Prodata partners with Unitrends to provide top-tier backup, disaster recovery solutions to African market

Johannesburg-based technology distributor Prodata has partnered with Unitrends, a Kaseya company and the global leader of all-in-one enterprise backup and continuity solutions, to bring top-tier backup and disaster recovery solutions to the African market.

The partnership is Unitrends’ first in South Africa and will build on Prodata’s experience of bringing fast-growing enterprise technology to the African market through its extensive channel partner network.

Unitrends backup appliances and cloud data protection leverage cutting-edge technology to automate manual tasks, eliminate management complexity and deliver tested hardware and software resilience. Unitrends provides enterprises with a single solution combining protection for physical, virtual and SaaS environments with ransomware detection, self-healing backups and dark Web monitoring.

Bringing this technology to partners across Africa, with a core focus on sub-Saharan Africa, Unitrends and Prodata are excited at the prospects of engaging more proactively with existing partners and establishing new partnerships with well-positioned value-added resellers (VARs) in this truly massive market. The global data backup and recovery market size is expected to grow from USD7.13 billion in 2017 to USD11.59 billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 10.2% during the forecast period, with a substantial portion of this being in the emerging African market (Source – Research and Markets).

The partnership between Unitrends and Prodata will aim to address growing demand for robust data protection solutions in the region.

“Sub-Saharan Africa is an expanding market with a need for resilient, enterprise-grade data protection solutions,” said Ronan Kirby, President and General Manager, EMEA at Kaseya. “By partnering with Prodata, Unitrends will be able to leverage Prodata’s extensive market expertise to provide businesses across southern Africa with the cutting-edge technologies needed to keep their data safe, both on-premises and in the cloud.”
