Dow down nearly 250 points on losses for shares of IBM, JPMorgan Chase

Shares of IBM and JPMorgan Chase are posting losses Tuesday afternoon, dragging the Dow Jones Industrial Average into negative territory. Shares of IBM IBM, -3.32% and JPMorgan Chase JPM, -1.53% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, +0.53% was most recently trading 248 points, or 0.8%, lower. IBM’s shares have declined $5.19 (3.9%) while those of JPMorgan Chase are off $3.80 (3.1%), combining for a roughly 59-point drag on the Dow. Home Depot HD, -0.79%, 3M MMM, -1.12%, and Goldman Sachs GS, -0.37% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
